The elaborate French staff uniform changed often as the weather became colder during the retreat from Moscow in 1812, resulting in very little in the way of "uniformity". Napoleon's costume (which this figure is based on) is taken from a Benigni drawing and a contemporary engraving by Lameau and Misbach*. Numerous descriptions of his fur-lined winter greatcoat and fur cap are recorded and this is the outfit he is believed to be wearing whilst watching his men building the bridges over the Berezina.
This 54mm (1/32) figure has been beautifully cast in polyurethane resin and is one of a set of seven historical figures available from Sphere Studio.
Prices start at £15 each, with £25 for two or £30 for three.
